Day by day The Fever grew stronger, surging across boundaries in its relentless assault on humanity. The news pouring out across the airwaves turned more shocking by the hour. Hospitals had started closing their doors. The dead and dying littered the landscape.
The tiny group stranded on Portsmouth Island listened as the horror unfolded. They had no where to run, and no where to hide. The struggle to survive had taken on a new meaning. The Fever promised an eventual death. Something else had come to The Island though, something wicked and hungry.
As if life wasn’t complicated enough, a stranger arrived in an odd little boat and brought with him, both hope and fear. No one knew the man was sick. No one knew he had a fever.
To save him, William Hill would have to violate the travel ban. To save himself, he would have to face down an indescribable evil.
The Island Part 3 Fallen Earth eBook Michael Stark
To this point I have really enjoyed this opening series. This descriptions of the island and events are very detailed, if not, according to the author accurate, characters are interesting. The main character is sort of an anti-hero who responds well to being put in a hot spot. The community and environment feels almost familiar as you move thru the books. The action when it comes is fast and at times fairly gruesome but somehow fiiting with the overall mystery which itself peaks the readers interest. Definitely worth a read.Product details

The Island Part 3 Fallen Earth eBook Michael Stark Reviews
This story is very well written. It picks up where the second one leaves off, but things go from bad to worse with a travel ban and monster sightings in the news.
The people stranded on the island spend their time fortifying the building they are staying in, William makes a covert trip out of bounds, and the group meets a mysterious stranger.
I wish this installment would have ended differently, but I guess everything can't go the way I want it to.
As the first two stories did, this one leaves you wanting more at the end. I will certainly read more from this author.
So this is where I REALLY got hooked. Another reviewer stated, "the literary equivalent of crack" - NOT SO!!! People can overcome crack addiction - this is more like heroin...I have literally been reading every spare second I could find, and using some seconds that should properly have been dedicated to things like normal daily activities. I could not put it down - HAD to keep reading and it stays that way through the remainder of the book!! Interesting and with enough twists throw in that even when you think you are figuring some things out, there are other you still just don't understand
Good book but only giving it three starts as
- Books are very short. You can finish them in 3 to 4 hours. All five books could really be provided as two solid novels. Good for generating income by turning two into five but not worth it.
- Starting to understand the Prime scam where authors are using the service to give you a taste of their works for free but then making you pay once you get "hooked". You want to read the ending, pay up. Not what a I assumed the Prime service was about. Probably time to cancel and go back to the public library.
Love , Love , Love this series. I have done some research but cannot find out what happened to the last books (after 4). If anyone can figure it out please let me know. There are a lot of people who want to get them.
This series is fast paced with very different characters who try to survive disaster and supernatural threats. There are still mysteries to be solved. We need more.
I was unable to put the first books of the series down.
I got The Island - Part 1 as a freebie a while back. When I finally read it, I could not put it down. I ended up reading the whole series up to date in 3 days. I enjoyed the characters, the scenery (I am from that part of NC but moved to Australia 10 years ago, so it was a trip down memory lane sometimes -anyways), the plot just kept twisting and turning in all directions and coming at me from every which way. Sometimes I saw it coming, other times I didn't see it till it smacked me in the face. I really liked this story from beginning to end, and I am looking forward to reading the next story involving these characters. This book doesn't disappoint, it's out there, but really it's a piece of fiction, if you are looking for 'realistic' story, this probably isn't for you, but if you want a good edge of the seat read, definitely give this series a go!
My rating is based on all 5 parts of this book. I haven't read much survival literature so I am unqualified to say how "great" it is.... but I really enjoyed this book, I read to pass time on my daily commute to work (more than an hour and a half each way). I was fully absorbed in "The Island". The human characters were very believable and the main characters are very likable. I can identify people that I have known with many of these characters. The plot seems plausible if you suspend reality for the existence of the supernatural creatures. At the end of the book I found that I am interested in what happens to them, I want to read the next book.
The book is readable, told in a way that makes you feel it is being told to you by someone who was there. It is clear and flows nicely, I didn't look for inconsistencies or "gotchas" because when people are telling life stories there are inconsistencies .
Horror stories are extreme by nature. This has an interesting concept, but could have been a waste of time, if the author didn't know what to do with it. Wasn't sure how I felt about this type of production, either. It was free, so why not try it out?
Now I can't wait to continue with part four and the final chapters. Have no clear picture of where he's going next with this, but the story is definitely holding my interest. Even Stephen King published "The Green Mile" as a series. Guess I'm unaccustomed to "cliffhangers" in print.
Read the specifics on the information page. Then read The Island (Fallen Earth). My memories of the Outer Banks are bright and sunshiny. Have a look at a dark side.
Michael Stark has a very creative mind, and knows how to draw you into his nightmare. After these, I intend to read more from him.
By the way, I noticed his Author Rank is #70 in eBooks > Fiction > Horror. Haven't checked that feature out yet, but with all of the available books and authors, it's probably a high spot on the list.
