Although the general story of the book is fine, it appears the illustrator did not read the book before starting to draw. Ravi (very East Indian name) has light skin and is blond. Also, the book talks about how the kids are 2 years old, but the illustrations clearly shows 5-7 year old children. And in reality the behavior described is that of a 5-7 year old ( brushing their teeth together, riding on the carousel, swinging on a swing - all of these tasks are done without parents - like a 6 year old, not a 2 year old.) Two year olds also don't understand the full concept of brother and especially not donor brother so they wouldn't be asking about it. That is a concept for an older child. So I would say with a few tweaks, this could be a great book, but it's a little off right now.Product details

A wonderful and heartwarming story to read my son who has connected with two of his donor siblings to remind him that other families share his story and that it's an awesome story! Thank you so much for sharing your story!
A simply stated and sweet depiction of a modern scenario which illustrates the bond that exists between siblings....A wonderful way to explain to children that there are many different types of families, and each family is unique and special.
Love this book!! There are no others like this out there! We are meet up with donor siblings and i plan to have them all sign it for my son =)
An excellent book that eloquently describes this experience!!! There really is nothing else like this on the market, exactly what we were looking for!
As far as I know there aren't any books out there to explain to a growing population of children who are born through the help of a sperm donor, just how they are related to others born the same way. This book explains it simply and in a way to keep a child interested in the story. I highly recommend this for children who were born this way, as well as for other children who are definitely going to experience friendships with other in their life born through this method. Great book!
Christy B...I wanted to thank you for your suggestion on tweaking the age of the character where Hazel declares herself as being 2 years old..initially my thoughts went to my own experience and my daughter, who met her donor sibling brother when she was 2 year old...but you are correct in your ideas of changing that to meet the illustrations of kids who are in fact seemingly a bit older...as for the name Ravi..I picked it because I like the name...and you are correct in that it is often an Indian name, however Ravi might be biracial...his mom might have just loved it...he might have been named after someone in is family...lots of possibilities...as for the age of the children, I am going to re-publish the book shortly making the change on the age...suggestion much appreciated!

My 6 year old daughter loves this book. It's perfect for guided reading. She can fully relate to the story and said "i have a brother that doesn't live with us too". The Best part was the page in the back for her to draw her family. There are no books for children about their siblings from their donors. My daughter has met most of her siblings and loves them just like the kids in the book. This has been her favorite book ever since we got it.
